Well done to Sean Harding who won a silver medal in the 400m in U23 Indoor Championships which was held in Athlone on Saturday. Sean won his heat comfortably, in 50.21s. In the final, Ciaran Carthy, from DSD AC started very strong and moved into the lead on the first lap with Sean in second place. On the second lap, Sean tried to close the gap down the back straight but Ciaran held on to win with Sean coming home in second place in 49.46s. Sean’s time of 49.46s is only 0.05s off Kevin McCloy’s club 400m indoor record of 49.41s. This was Sean’s first 400m championship race and he still has 2 years left at under 23. Sean also competed in the 60m where he finished 4th in his heat in 7.30s.

We look forward to many more successful years for Sean at U23 and senior level.
