The All Ireland Schools T&F Championships took place at the start of June in Tullamore.
Charlee Williams and Thomas Williams represented Coláiste Dún an Rí, Kingscourt. Thomas won gold with a best of 60:72 and was 6 meters ahead of 2nd place. Charlee won bronze with a best of 37:22 and only 20cm behind 2nd place. Both are still eligible for the same age froup next year. Thomas will now represent Ulster schools at the Inter Provincial Tailteann Games.
Eadaoin Lynch, Grace Gormley, and Shane Mulligan represented Bailieborough Community School.
Grace competed in the Intermediate Girls Discus finishing third with a best throw of 29.37. This was Grace’s first All Ireland Medal.
Eadaoin competed in the Junior Girls 100m and 200m races, finishing 5th in both races.
Shane Mulligan ran in the Senior Boys 200m final. Shane ran well and will be eligible for this age group again next year.
Ellie Rose Ward represented Inver College, Carrickmacross in the Senior Girls HJ. Ellie finished in 7th place with a jump of 1.55m. This is a new pb for Ellie and also a new club record.
Mark Kearns represented St Bricin’s Belturbet in the Junior Boys 1500m. Mark was running well but a collision with another athlete on the final lap caused him to trip and fall. Mark bravely finished the race but unfortunately, any hope of a medal was gone.
